The Program Specialist is responsible for coordinating, engaging in, and providing oversight of projects, budgets, processes, and the policies and procedures essential to the success of global and departmental programs.
Overview The Program Specialist-Global Communications is a key member of a growing team that supports the communications efforts of the Department of Global Pediatric Medicine (GPM) and St.
Jude Global (SJG).
The Program Specialist will assist in the implementation of communications tasks intended to inform and inspire departmental and St.
Jude Global Alliance audiences.
Summary Working under the direction of the St.
Jude Global Communications Program Manager, the Global Communications Program Specialist will work as part of a team to create content that informs, inspires and engages GPM and member institutions of the St.
Jude Global Alliance and partner organizations.
As part of a growing team, the ideal candidate is experienced and motivated to work in a fast-paced environment and will collaborate with the Global Communications team to ensure appropriate and timely communications about GPM and the St.
Jude Global initiative.
The St.
Jude Global Communications team supports the faculty and staff of the Department of Global Pediatric Medicine and institutional members of the St.
Jude Global Alliance and ensures alignment with St.
Jude strategic goals.
The ideal candidate is an effective communicator with strong writing skills, the ability to conduct a variety of tasks as part of content strategy implementation, an understanding of website content management systems and the latest social media strategies to ensure effective audience reach, and an ability to implement newsletter and leadership messaging campaigns.
The candidate should understand how to deliver effective messaging and possess the ability to support program teams in creating strong visual and written content.
The Global Communications Program Specialist Job Responsibilities: Work with the Program Manager to implement key tasks of strategy to effectively communicate with global partners.
Support Program Manager in fulfilling tasks in coordination with St.
Jude institutional communications colleagues such as blog post writing, program connections, and faculty support.
Complete tasks as part of departmental communications processes.
Write and edit leadership messaging to effectively communicate with departmental faculty and staff.
Draft content for newsletters, guidelines, policies, organizational processes, and other needs for the department as assigned.
Write and edit copy for diverse communication tools such as articles, video scripts, infographics, blog posts, emails, and executive messaging.
Conduct brand standard reviews of departmental and program content.
Write content for and manage the production of departmental and partner-facing newsletters.
Assist with content edits of departmental websites.
Provide communications support to St.
Jude Global programs.
Build and maintain relationships with diverse healthcare professionals around the world.
Provide valuable insights to enhance effective communications across department and with global partners.
Assist team in writing video storyboards and scripts.
Skills and Abilities Detail oriented.
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Customer service mindset.
Cultural sensitivity is a must.
Ability to work with diverse teams and personalities.
Ability to handle sensitive matters in a confidential and professional manner.
Ability to plan and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum Education Bachelor's degree required; preference in communication, marketing, journalism, public relations or a related field.
Master's degree preferred.
Minimum Experience: Minimum of 1+ year(s) experience in program coordination.
Experience in a communications discipline such as writing, editing, photography, videography, public relations, marketing or graphic design preferred.
Experience with customer relationship management software preferred.
Experience with Microsoft Tools (SharePoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
Experience with newsletter software preferred.
Knowledge of graphic design software such as Adobe InDesign and PhotoShop is preferred.
Fluency in a second language preferred.
