This position performs a vital role to ensure the fulfillment of the Culinary Services Department’s Mission “To make a difference in the lives of those we serve every day through exceptional customer service and outstanding food”.
Responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and sanitization of dishes, pots, pans, utensils, equipment through manual and machine cleaning methods.
Performs other related duties to achieve departmental goals.
Job Responsibilities: Washes, stores and maintains adequate supply of serviceware (dishes, pots, pans and utility carts, etc.
) for food preparation and service.
Retrieves soiled dishware and trays from patient areas; returns to dish room for cleaning.
Scrapes, washes, rinses, and sanitizes dishes, pots, pans, silverware and other wares according to policy to ensure complete cleanliness and sanitation.
Organizes and stores cleaned dishes, pots, pans, and silverware and other wares according to policy.
Maintains adequate clean trays, dishes, silverware, and other servicewares in the cafeteria during meal times.
Documents warewashing equipment temperatures and sanitizer levels according to policy.
Sets up, cleans and maintains food service equipment according to department policy and procedure.
Sets up equipment in a safe and sanitary manner.
Utilizes appropriate cleaning tools, chemicals, equipment, and personal protective equipment according to policy.
Reports breakdown or damage of equipment.
Maintain cleanliness of the dining room table, chairs, high chairs, and floors.
Completes daily tasks as assigned.
Collects, removes, and transports trash and cardboard in a timely manner.
Cleans and sanitizes all trash receptacles.
Maintains clean and safe floor surfaces by sweeping and mopping floors as needed or according to schedules.
Cleans spills according to procedure in a timely manner.
Utilizes wet floor signs when mopping.
Delivers and picks up catering orders as needed.
Cleans up after catering events as directed.
Cleans counters and microwave in vending area at Starbucks.
Sweeps and mops floor in vending area as needed.
Provides prompt and courteous customer service to internal and external customers.
Greets each customer in a friendly and courteous manner.
Adheres to department’s dress code.
Utilizes service recovery techniques as needed and informs supervisor.
Performs other related duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of the department Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
Performs additional duties within scope of position as assigned.
Minimum Education and/or Training: High school education or GED preferred Minimum Experience: Six months food service experience or commercial dishwashing experience preferred Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by SJCRH Only: ServSafe Food Handler Training Certificate Program or another American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accredited Food Handler Training Certificate Program required within thirty (30) days of hire.
Employee must maintain current certification during employment.
