Overview:
The Pictsweet Company is growing! We are currently seeking a Director of Food Safety, reporting to the VP of Technical Services.
This role is responsible for directing all aspects of the Food Safety & Regulatory programs for The Pictsweet Company, and is based at our corporate headquarters in Bells, TN.
Responsibilities:
Assure that Pictsweet manufacturing plants follow all Food Safety and Regulatory policies established by Pictsweet or government agencies.
Ensure that all Pictsweet manufacturing plants have up-to-date verified Food Safety Plans and organize, control, deploy, and maintain all associated protocols.
Confirm and validate all training programs associated with the BRC Global Food Safety System, Sanitation, Microbiology, Pest Control, Allergen Management, HACCP, GMP, and related protocols are current.
Assure that Pictsweet has active environmental monitoring, testing, and control programs (e.
, protect the company from all pathogenic organisms that may impact our products and environments).
Assure that Pictsweet has effective sanitation programs for each facility and distribution center.
Assure Pictsweet has practical and effective Food Security Systems.
Conduct internal audits of The Pictsweet Company’s manufacturing facilities and distribution centers.
Validate that equipment modifications or new equipment meet sanitary design protocol established by Pictsweet.
Provide sanitary design recommendations for new and existing equipment and modifications and installations of existing/new equipment.
Performs routine analysis and assists in resolving consumer/customer complaints about food safety.
Assist in implementing the corrective action with the appropriate plant or facility management personnel.
Work with direct reports and plant food safety managers to ensure timely and accurate reporting of food safety issues and metrics to the VP of Technical Services.
Qualifications:
EXPERIENCE: Must have in-depth and up-to-date knowledge of food safety procedures and systems, food safety standards, relevant legislation, auditing techniques, and product and process knowledge.
An understanding of food processing, microbiology, sanitation, advanced HACCP, and GMPs.
The DFSRP should have technical knowledge of COP and CIP, cleaning and sanitizing chemicals, sanitary design of food processing equipment, & internal auditing of food manufacturing facilities.
This is typically gained with ten years of food production, management, & auditing experience.
EDUCATION: Must have an advanced degree in Food Technology or related discipline.
The Director of Food Safety must be a certified PCQI as well as certified in HACCP & Advanced HACCP, Internal Auditing, Third Party GFSI audit Standards, Food Security & Defense.
Certifications in Project Management, Lead Auditing, and Food Hygiene are a plus.
