*Purpose Statement: The Cook is responsible for providing healthy and tasty meals and snacks to children so that they can grow and development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1.
Works with the Lead Cook to purchase foods if needed, prepare, and serve food items on menus approved by a registered dietician and assists in any food related activities.
2.
Assists with maintaining all proper records (i.
e.
, inventory sheets, claim for reimbursement worksheets, itemized copy of bills for food bought for the center, meal records, etc.
), inventory, storage of food and clean-up of kitchen and equipment.
3.
Adheres to all procedures and policies that are required to meet compliance with Northwest Head Start/EHS program, Head Start Performances Standards, CACFP, state licensing and health department requirements.
4.
Adheres to all established systems for cleaning the kitchen and storage areas so they are always kept in a clean and sanitary manner.
5.
Responsible for complying with the Northwest Head Start/EHS program, local, state and federal standards regarding hygiene and sanitation.
6.
Assists in monitoring and documenting freezer/cooler temperatures, sending menus home, preparing sippy cups and, bottles.
7.
Be knowledgeable of any children with special dietary needs, allergies, and formula changes to assist the Cook in making meal substitutions when necessary
8.
Attends all trainings, workshops and meeting as considered necessary by the Health and Nutrition Coordinator.
9.
Be knowledgeable of Kitchen Operational Manual and the Food Buying Guide.
10.
Preserve the confidentiality and integrity of all program information.
11.
Attendance is an essential function of your day-to-day responsibility and commitment to the program.
