THIS IS A PART-TIME TEMPORARY GRANT-FUNDED POSITION (35 HOURS PER WEEK)
JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Research Technician 2 is an entry level position in the Department of Pharmacology Laboratory to conduct several routine laboratory techniques including qRT-PCR, Western blot analysis, immunohistochemistry, maintaining mouse colonies (genotyping and perform basic mouse behaviors).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintains mouse colonies (set up breeding cages, weaning pups, and perform PCR-based genotyping).
Prepares experimental solutions.
Assists in conducting mouse behavioral testing and immunohistochemistry, qPCR, Western blot analysis.
Collects, interprets, describes, and documents complex analytical and evaluative research data.
Maintains lab equipment for experiments.
Responsible for autoclaving laboratory material, cleaning of glassware/plastic ware, and laboratory sanitation.
Purchases laboratory equipment.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Biomedical Science, or a related field.
(Neuroscience major is preferred.

EXPERIENCE: OR a combination of college course work and work experience to equal eight (8) years.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Ability to follow directions on experimental protocols or requests from the Principal Investigator.
Skill working with mice and ability to learn in quickly.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Ability to master their work schedule to accomplish goals.
